Golden Hill Cafe: Your Go-To Spot for Delicious Breakfast & Brunch in San Diego

Golden Hill Cafe is a nice, small diner. Seating is limited and the space is quite small. It is very much home style from the size, decor, and even staffing. The food is good and the prices are okay. The food is inline with current prices. $4.50 for drip coffee for perspective. You are getting enough food to get yourself to full without having to worry about overindulging. Overall I liked Golden Hill Cafe but didn't think it was anything amazing. I would probably come again but that's because it is within such close proximity to me.

Went here 5 days in a row! Pancakes, French toast, California turkey melt - everything has been great! Update - been here almost everyday we've been in San Diego! Super fresh, great staff, cool little cafe!

A small cafe serving delicious American and Mexican breakfast at very reasonable prices. The place has been around for years, but is kept up well. You can tell from the clean and free-flowing salt and pepper shakers and the sugar dispensers. The pancakes and French toast portions are generous. They are very good, fluffy and with lots of egg batter. The hash browns look the same as those from anywhere else, but the brown portions are very, very crispy while the white parts are fresh. They are the best I’ve tasted for a long time. Yum!

My family and I (3 people or rarely 4) come to have breakfast here weekly. We get seated immediately, the staff are very friendly, they’re quick when it’s not as crowded. The silverware, I noticed that they weren’t being washed properly. For example, in between the forks, I noticed there was dry food stuck. Also, the cups were stained of coffee or other dry foods. Including, I ordered an orange juice once & the orange juice had no flavor, just pure water as well as once when I ordered a hot coffee, to me, it tasted like tea. I thought I was losing my mind but I insisted my sister to try it & she said it did taste like tea inside of coffee. The pancakes have a lot of butter but they’re very delicious and fluffy (order them without butter) there’s a lot of foods that they serve that have lots of butter.

Great corner Cafe to grab breakfast. Friendly, attentive wait staff, with good food. The diner style seats add to the charm. If you are looking to support local business's stop in, you won't be disappointed

Cute and cozy diner to bring a book and eat breakfast at. Staff are friendly and food tastes good. I got the farmers mix, biscuits and gravy were so comforting.

We were leaving San Diego and wanted to get some breakfast before we left. And so we decided on Golden Hill Cafe. This Cafe is very small with a kitchen, a small counter, and some booths and that's it. But what they lack in size they make up for with their hospitality. We were welcomed in and seated promptly. We ordered coffee which was perfectly brewed. We decided to share the Chorizo plate which was very delicious. I loved the refried beans. They were freshly made and reminded me of my Nana and how she made her beans. We made a great decision eating here and look forward to our next SD visit. We will definitely return to Golden Hill Cafe.

Great spot for Mexican breakfast! The service is so incredibly fast and we didn’t have to wait for a seat in the morning. The prices are reasonable and the food is authentic. It’s not a fancy place but perfect for a quick bite to eat. I really enjoyed the hash browns.
